Round 1: Technical Screening

Format: 45-minute video call Interviewer: Senior Process Engineer Duration: 40 minutes

The technical screening covered process engineering fundamentals: P&ID interpretation, HAZOP studies, process simulation, and equipment sizing. The interviewer asked about my experience with Aspen Plus and HYSYS.

What they were testing: Technical knowledge of process engineering fundamentals and familiarity with industry-standard simulation tools. They wanted to ensure I had the foundational knowledge for oil & gas projects.

Interviewer approach: Technical and direct. He moved quickly through questions, testing depth of knowledge rather than breadth.

Round 2: Case Study

The case was about optimizing a refinery distillation column. I was given operating data and asked to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements. I analyzed temperature profiles, reflux ratios, and energy consumption.

What they were testing: Problem-solving skills, process optimization knowledge, and ability to work with real operational data. They wanted to see if I could identify practical improvements.

No interviewer - this was a self-paced written exercise.

Round 3: Panel Interview

Format: 60-minute panel discussion Interviewers: Senior Process Engineer, Project Manager, HSE Representative Duration: 55 minutes

The panel included a senior process engineer, a project manager, and a HSE representative. They asked about safety considerations, environmental compliance, and project management experience.

What they were testing: Cross-functional knowledge, safety awareness, and project management skills. They wanted to ensure I could work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.

Interviewer approach: Collaborative and comprehensive. Each interviewer focused on their area of expertise, but they built on each other's questions to get a holistic view.

Round 4: HR Round
