About Aetos Technologies
Aetos provides custom IT solutions and software development services. They work with clients across various domains, building custom applications, integrations, and digital solutions.
Round 1: DSA Round
Format: 60-minute HackerRank assessment Problems: Array manipulation, tree traversal, dynamic programming
The DSA round had three problems: array manipulation (two pointers technique), tree traversal (BFS/DFS), and dynamic programming (knapsack variant). I solved all three with optimal time complexity and explained my approach clearly.
What they were testing: Algorithmic problem-solving skills and coding efficiency. They wanted to see if I could solve standard problems within time constraints.
No interviewer - this was a self-paced assessment.
Round 2: Technical Round
Format: 45-minute video call Interviewer: Senior Software Engineer Duration: 40 minutes
The technical round covered object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns (singleton, factory, observer), database design and SQL queries, and API design principles. The interviewer asked me to design a class hierarchy for a library management system, testing my OOP design skills.
What they were testing: OOP knowledge, design pattern understanding, and ability to design software architecture. They wanted to ensure I could design maintainable and scalable systems.
Interviewer approach: Practical and design-oriented. He focused on real-world applications of OOP concepts, testing practical knowledge rather than just theory.
Round 3: System Design
Format: 60-minute whiteboard discussion Interviewer: Tech Lead Duration: 55 minutes
The system design question was:
"Design a URL shortening service like bit.ly. How do you handle collisions and ensure uniqueness?"
I designed a system with hash function for URL shortening, database for storing mappings, caching layer for frequently accessed URLs, collision handling strategies, and analytics tracking.
What they were testing: System design skills, understanding of scalability concepts, and ability to handle common design challenges. They wanted to see if I could design a practical, scalable solution.
Interviewer approach: Collaborative and comprehensive. He built on my design, asking follow-up questions about edge cases and scalability.
Round 4: HR Round
Format: 30-minute discussion Interviewer: HR Manager Duration: 25 minutes
Standard HR discussion about career goals, cultural fit, and willingness to learn new technologies.
What they were testing: Cultural fit, career commitment, and alignment with Aetos's collaborative environment. They wanted to ensure I could work effectively in their team-oriented culture.
Interviewer approach: Warm and conversational. She shared Aetos's culture and tested whether I resonated with their values of continuous learning and collaboration.
The Insider Insight
Aetos values fundamental understanding. They're less concerned with specific framework knowledge and more interested in your grasp of computer science fundamentals. If you understand the basics well, they believe you can learn any technology.
